What makes Smitty's Performing Arts Competitive Program different?
WE ARE A TEAM. We focus on training dancers not only to be great technicians, but also upstanding young men and women who can work well with others and understand the value of teamwork. The nationally recognized SPAC Xtreme Team is founded on the pillars of Self-Confidence, Passion, Accepting, and Creativity. These values are the core of the SPAC. At Smitty's Performing Arts Center, we provide a positive learning experience that is not based solely on winning awards; instead, we promote dancers to use their talents to the best of their abilities. We want every child to be proud of who they are! We serve dancers who love to perform and give them the opportunity to compete and excel on stage alongside their friends and teammates. Competitive Dancers learn the importance of determination, discipline, and time management; ultimately working hard for what they desire. These skills not only help our students succeed in dance, but also in their future academic, professional, and personal endeavors.
XTREME TEAM
The XTREME TEAM is a competition group for girls and boys ages 4 to 18 founded by nationally recognized instructor and choreographer Tim Smith. This program is for students that show an exceptional dedication and talent for dance. These dancers are selected through an audition process and extensively train in all areas of dance. XT dancers will grow both technically and stylistically each year with their participation. The SPAC XT performs at various competitions and conventions. XT members have the opportunity to train with the top educators and dancers in the industry. XT members are required to take an intense curriculum of fundamental classes along with XT choreography rehearsals. **Those dancers that are interested in only a certain style and or less commitment but still want to train with the best, please continue to fill out the online submission. We can discuss options that work for your family and schedule.
ELITE
This ELITE dance program is specifically designed for competition dancers who desire additional training and performance opportunities. This group of dancers is a cooperative unit assembled to train and perform representing SPAC across the country. The team will attend 2-3 dance conventions out of state as a team. Attendance will be monitored and dancers will be held accountable for their training regimen. Auditions occur during our bootcamp placement on the last day. Dancers who want to be considered for ELITE must be members of the XTREME TEAM and will have an additional interview.
